Punjab Elections : Kejriwal Resorts To ‘Bitching’ About Competitors

AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday mounted a no holds barred attack on the Badal family and Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh, alleging that they have “looted” the state for their “vested interests”

The writing on the wall is clear for the ruling Akali Dal. They need to handle the challenge from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) effectively. The latter is still an unknown quantity in the state’s politics in terms of its potential to challenge established parties, but the surge in popular support for Kejriwal makes it look like a threat.

To add to this, Arvind Kejriwal is adding increasingly new “feathers” to his hat. Not only has he claimed to leave the state of Punjab after he revolutionizes the current situation but has also stirred up a strange political environment in the state.

However, all this does not mean to assert that the AAP is headed for a cakewalk in Punjab. In one of his rallies a few months back, Kejriwal claimed his party would win 110 of the 117 seats in the state. The ground situation, particularly on the organisational front, does not reflect that sense of optimism. Some seats, even many seats less would still mean that Kejriwal’s party has arrived as a political force. The man himself might be lacklustre enough to not be able to pull off a few promise, albeit, the premise made during the Delhi elections.

Arvind Kejriwal Wastes No Time. Heads To Chandigarh From Dharamkot

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said he was feeling “very energetic” after attending a 10-day meditation course in Himachal Pradesh. “Returning back from 10-day vipassana course. Feeling very fresh and energetic,” Mr Kejriwal tweeted.

Mr Kejriwal had gone to attend the session at Dharamkot, close to the Dalai Lama’s abode in Himachal Pradesh, on August 1. His course began on August 2. During the 10-day period, he was not allowed to meet anyone and denied access to newspapers and telephones.

As the flight to Delhi was cancelled following bad weather, Kejriwal left for Chandigarh by road on his way to the national capital. Earlier, talking to the media, Kejriwal said he was rejuvenated after the meditation session and was ready to take on his opponents. Talking about the party’s prospects in the upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab, he said the AAP would win no less than 100 seats there.

When asked about the court judgment on the role of the lieutenant-governor in Delhi, he refused to comment. Meanwhile, AAP ticket claimants from six constituencies in Punjab will address the media in Chandigarh on Thursday as they claim to have some proofs that would go against the candidature of the nominated candidates.

To counter their claims, the AAP has also convened a press conference to defend the choice of their candidates, who would also be present there.

Taking a lead over its rivals, the party had recently announced the first list of 19 candidates for various constituencies for the Punjab Assembly elections, which had not gone down well with some claimants, who thought they had a better claim to the candidature.

We wonder what Kejriwal has to offer. A new set of empty promises to make Punjab suffer as much as Delhi?

AAP’s Selfish Agenda: Punjab

There is always much more to things, than social media may show viewers. An example of this is, what began with celebrating first anniversary of Arvind Kejriwal government in Punjab, seems to have no end. During Kejriwal’s Punjab tour, AAP was again seen splurging massive amount on glorifying their deeds. Delhi government could have spent this amount on development work on the National capital but instead went on a self-promotion drive.

Arvind Kejriwal, in his possibly vain attempt to gain brownie points in the state of Punjab is going all out, with the kind of advertisements and mass media publicity he is doing. Sometimes subtle, other times- not so much. Illustrations, newspaper ad’s, posters, you name it, chance is- he has already done it! AAP has already spent more than Punjab government’s annual budget on highlighting their “achievements”. What’s more? He targets leading dailies and gives out misleading ad’s which actually aim at coloring the perception of people in a way that would benefit his party. Deluding people into believing like they have a freedom of choice when they actually don’t.

AAP has clearly violated the guidelines of the Supreme Court as Supreme Court had prohibited the use of photographs of political leaders in advertisements issued by any government and its agencies.

Supreme court in its verdict announced in May, 2015 has said that taxpayers’ money cannot be spent to build “personality cults” of political leaders and restrained ruling parties from publishing photographs of political leaders or prominent persons in government-funded advertisement. The apex court, however, permitted the use of photographs of the President, Prime Minister and Chief Justice of India.

Despite several warnings issues at a level as high as the courts, Kejriwal seems to have little or no respect toward the judicial system that he governs. Or shall we say takes for granted to no extent?

In his charade to ace at the Punjab elections Arvind Kejriwal is losing out on a lot of love and respect that his people may have offered to him. Arvind Kejriwal government in last one year has spent hundreds of crores, and for one-year ‘celebration’ it spent exorbitantly. While voters of Punjab have already rejected Kejriwal, he continues to be persistent and in has scaled all heights of desperation, offense and defense.

Let’s wait for time to tell what it has in store for our beloved CM of Delhi. It’s definitely not heading anywhere positive, as yet.

Punjab volunteers of AAP not-so-happy over nosy behavior of Delhi leaders

It all started when Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs from Punjab Harinder Singh Khalsa and Dr. Dharamvira Gandhi were suspended from primary membership of the party and party’s National convener became inconsiderate about the entire issue. Bitterness prevailed among the party’s Punjab volunteers and workers for the past few months, which reached its boiling point when the leaders from other parties who lately joined AAP were made spokespersons without taking the local leadership into confidence.

In order to promote the Aam Aadmi party in Punjab, its Delhi team members used all unethical means at its disposal. Instead Delhi team members sidelined party’s Punjab leaders to such an extent that they have to appeal Arvind Kejriwal, National Convener, AAP to direct them to stop interfering in their activities.

AAP discourages its old volunteers

AAP government has always been alleged of discouraging its old volunteers and leaders who helped the party during its initial stages. Kejriwal has always failed to hear the resentment of his party’s Punjab workers as well as volunteers, who were made to feel insignificant and demeaned by its Delhi team members.

Earlier also AAP party volunteers from Amritsar were left with no choice rather than burning effigy of its local party members, to bring their issues into Kejriwal’s notice.

“Not even a single old volunteer or party leader from Punjab who holds clean image figured on the party posters recently”, stated AAP Punjab Volunteer who blamed AAP for ignoring his old volunteers. “Only Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh from Delhi and five to six unknown persons from Delhi were highlighted”, he added.

Lack of access to the leadership

Party made by a common man for the common man is now in trouble as many of the leaders raised the issue of not being able to reach its senior leaders at National level. Its members and volunteers at the state level have started feeling frustrated and dishearten by the meddling attitude of its Delhi team.

Phoolka a lawyer or liar

“A man who fights you as he does is no better than an opportunist and no worse than a thug.”Kristin Cashore

When Harvinder Singh Phoolka fails to bring justice for the victims of 1984 Anti-Sikh families, he started blaming center government. He still claims to be the “massiah” of 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims. Phoolka, the Aam Admi Party leader and a self-styled massiah of 1984 anti-Sikh riots victims when found himself nowhere in getting justice to the deceased families, he started giving the lame excuses.

In a recent statement, Supreme Court Lawyer, Phoolka has asked, “Why is Modi government shielding shielding Jagdish Tytler?”

First you explain Mr Phoolka, “What you have done so far in the case which you have been fighting in the court since 1984?”

Phoolka has forgot that Aam Admi Party while contesting Delhi elections in 2015 had put the 1984 anti-Sikh riots issue in its manifesto. The party had made two promises, one was the formation of Special Investigation Team and other was to provide proper infrastructure to the deceased families living in colonies.

However, the new born party, AAP has failed to deliver its promises. The report file prepared by SIT under the AAP regime is yet to be found as the file is lost since April, 2015. The truth behind is that Kejriwal had only made an announcement to form SIT but SIT was never constituted. So, why Phoolka is not admitting his own party’s failure?

The second promise made by APP to provide better infrastructure along with basic amenities to the riot affected families is still in the air as nothing has been done so far in this regard.

Look who is talking?

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member on February 3, 2016 levelled serious charge against Narendra Modi led government at the centre accusing it of shielding congress leader and prime accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh massacre, Jagdish Tytler. He alleged that CBI once again has attempted to protect Jagdish Tytler by not filing the status report in the Karkardooma court in Delhi on February 2, 2016.

H S Phoolka has been trying to cover up his party’s lie made to the riot affected victims. Moreover, he is also trying to cover up his failure as he was 28 years old in 1984 when he took up the matter in the court. He is now 60 and still the case is hanging in the middle.

Justice Delayed, Justice Denied

Fingers raise at Phoolka who took a long time of 31 years in the case and despite having all the solid evidence against the accused Jagdish Tytler, why he did not bring justice to the affected people in the carnage.

Indian Mirror | How Kejriwal is trying to milk Rohith Vemula’s ‘Dalit identity’?

The fact that politicians are discussing Rohit Vemula being Dalit more than his death speaks volumes of what our society has become!

“When a girl named Nirbhaya was brutally raped and killed, did anyone question her caste? Then why is Rohith’s caste under question here?” asks Radhika Vemula, the mother of Rohith Vemula, the research scholar who committed suicide on January 17 at the Hyderabad Central University. All she wants to know is why there is such a hue & cry of her son’s caste?

Aiming to project himself as champion of Dalit rights, Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal wasted no time in flying to Hyderabad to express his solidarity with protesting students. Scratching below the surface of his facade one sees only hypocrisy.

The Rohith Vemula case has been dotted with half-truths, unclear facts and the rush of political vultures and greedy student organisations, keen to exploit the tragedy for their selfish ends. Even his caste background is under scanner.

Imagine the trauma of the mother, given no space to grieve for the death of her 25-year-old son, rather being forced to give explanation about her caste to one and all.

Self-Proclaimed Messiah of Dalit Rights

While Kejrwial has been positioned as ‘Messiah of Dalit right’ by Aam Adami Party, public at large is questioning his own intentions.  What right he had to indulge in politics over Rohith Vemula’s death when he killed the trust that the Dalits had reposed in him?

It will be interesting to know how many times did Kejriwal or his cabinet or his party even mention the cause of the Dalits all this while, since he became Delhi CM?

Time and again, Kejriwal has championed the rights of socially weaker and neglected sections of society.  They were the ones who supported him wholeheartedly and contributed majorly to AAP’s victory in last Delhi assembly elections. AAP attracted the Safai Karmacharis (Sweepers) most as he promised to do away with contractual work saying their jobs would be regularized.

The broom (Jharu) is main instrument of their livelihood and AAP’s poll symbol struck an emotional chord with them. He also promised medical insurance to Safai Karammcharis. Besides, Dalits were promised interest free loans for setting up small enterprises.

All of these proved to be farce and poll-gimmicks, as it has been almost a year since Kejriwal took charge and none of the promises has been delivered.

It is extremely hypocritical to talk about the Dalit question in Hyderabad today when Kejriwal government has come up with absolutely no affirmative action whatsoever when it comes to giving a fair representation to Dalits in cabinet or for that matter in the party structure.

Selective secularism

Arvind Kejriwal had expressed serious outrage after the Dadri incident but he failed to compose even a single tweet about Malda violence. Truly secular, Kejriwal, as portrayed through his twitter account, would have strongly reacted against the Malda. But perhaps he would not, because his new-found affection for West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is driven by political arithmetic and vicious anti-Centre chemistry.

God sent Opportunity

Rohith Vemula’s suicide note eloquently stated the sad affair of political opportunism, when he painfully expressed –

The value of a man was reduced to his identity… to a vote, to a number, to a thing. Never was a man treated as a mind, as a glorious thing made of stardust in every field. In studies, on streets, in politics and in dying and living

AtOcnE6iciWxRI0_zq5IZCI1Lifeae5orC4NzV5Tdqfe (1)

To all the politician seeking cheap publicity – ‘Any tragedy unexploited is an opportunity lost’. For them, death of a bright student was God-sent opportunity serving dual purpose – one, giving them opportunity to corner ruling party as reflexive anti-Dalit and second, garnering undue sympathy of Dalit voters.

Hence, we find Arvind Kejriwal who has practiced the art of throwing secular arrows on Narender Modi’s dartboard, unable to resist the temptation of jumping into the cauldron with alarming promptness.

Calling it not ‘suicide’, but ‘murder’ and demanding an apology from Modi, the Kejriwal has since been burning in the fire of righteous anger.

Identity Politics

The suicide-note of Rohith suggests that he was disillusioned by the overall socio-political realities of India. The unfortunate suicide by Rohith is the manifestation of a set of complex issues that cannot be boiled down to an issue of a particular caste. But that is exactly what our politicians and intellectual elites are doing.

Contrary to the vision of a casteless, plural, democratic polity- minority and caste especially Dalit identity politics are recently becoming common platform for agitations and dissent. The way politicians are trying to exploit the suicide of a meritorious student for political gains, is a reflection of their opportunistic hyperbole.

Given the horrendous nature of event, it is time we moved from identity politics to a politics of identification. The focus should be on identifying the triggers of progress and their manifestation!

AAP’s poster causes swirl

Direct connection with Khalistan movement can been seen in the recently released poster by Aam Aadmi Party with ‘Bhindranwale’ as a lead and Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal as his admirer.

“Recent poster with photos of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, along with Kejriwal, National convener of Aam Aadmi Party and few of its senior Punjab leaders, caused disquiet among Punjabis as it got viral on social media”

Arvind Kejriwal a Chameleon

Kejriwal has shown his true colors like a chameleon, on one side he has denied the fact of releasing the poster by its party members, on the other side he has failed to file any FIR against the persons for releasing it. People are wondering why NO FIR, if it did not release the poster. For mere publicity Kejriwal is now urging people of Punjab as well as its party workers to visit the nearest Gurdwaras and pledge to walk the path shown by saints (sants).

“The corrupt AAP party who is now blaming its opponents for creating such poster in order to spread false propaganda, should not only come clean (if they are) on the poster but also make its stand on the entire issue”, said Captain Amarinder Singh, Punjab Congress President.

Bhindranwale a saint; or a daaku?

AAP leader Kejriwal calls Bhindranwale a saint; where as his Punjab leader Sucha Singh Chhotepur addresses him as “Chambal Da Daaku”. Contradictory statements of both AAP leaders show the dubious character of the party and its leaders. Far away from patriotism, AAP is just focused on its publicity and short term political gain that is why it’s trying to vitiate the hard earned peace in the state of Punjab. AAP has been over the past one year seen adding political fuel to the radicalism fire.

AAP leaders, who shouted pro-khalistan slogans in the recent past during the Sarbat Khalsa event, have been witnessed using the word “inquilab” as invocation of revolution. “Inquilab”, accredited to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, who wanted freedom from British and for the great cause he gave his life for the nation. “Who does AAP want freedom from?”, questions Captain as he finds corrupt AAP leaders disturbing the Punjab state for party’s political gain and propaganda.
